The Supreme Court of Lithuania participates in the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the Member States of the European Union (hereinafter –the Network). It is an Association of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the EU Member States, its Constituent Assembly was held on 10 March 2004 in Paris. The Presidents of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights are also invited to participate in the general assemblies and colloquiums of the Network.
Though the membership of the Network includes the Presidents of the Supreme Courts, they act as representatives of their relevant Courts, thus the Network actually unites not only the Presidents of Supreme Courts but also the Supreme Judicial Courts of the Member States of the European Union themselves.
The purpose of the Network is to promote exchanges of views and experience on matters concerning the case law, organisation and functioning of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union in the performance of their judicial and/or advisory functions, particularly with regard to Community Law. The Network may initiate and promote publication, dissemination and translation of research works falling within its terms of reference. In principle every second year, the Network organises a colloquium to consider matters falling within its terms of reference. The Network has created its website http://www.eupsjc.org
which makes available information on the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union, their court practice as well as reports and conclusions produced during the colloquiums of the Network.
